"We Will Help Restore the Vitality of Small Business Owners"
The small and medium-sized business sector expressed its support for the government's decision to formulate the second supplementary budget on June 19.
The Korea Federation of SMEs stated in a commentary on the same day, "More than 1 million small business owners and self-employed people closed their businesses last year, and more than 200,000 have closed by February this year, which shows the severe difficulties they are facing. We hope that this supplementary budget will serve as a spark to revive domestic demand by focusing support on small business owners and vulnerable groups."
The federation added, "Taking this supplementary budget as an opportunity, we also plan to launch campaigns to boost domestic demand, such as expanding the purchase of local gift certificates and Onnuri gift certificates, and encouraging people to spend their summer vacations in Korea, in order to help small business owners recover their vitality."
On the same day, the government approved a second supplementary budget plan worth 20.2 trillion won at a Cabinet meeting held at the Presidential Office in Yongsan, Seoul.
