Yeosu City in South Jeolla Province (Mayor Chung Kimyung) announced on June 19 that, starting with Yeocheon-dong on June 18, it has been holding briefing sessions touring 27 towns and townships to ensure the successful hosting of the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo.

The city organized these briefing sessions to share key details and the progress of the Island Expo with citizens and to encourage their interest and participation in the event.

During these sessions for residents of each town and township, the city plans to introduce the overview of the Island Expo, major programs, and citizen participation campaigns. It will also serve as a platform for collecting opinions on the operation of the Expo venue.

A city official stated, "The 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo is a significant national event that highlights the value and future of islands, so the interest and participation of citizens are more important than anything else," adding, "We will continue to actively promote the event to build a foundation for participation."

The 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo will be held from September 5 to November 4 next year. At the main venue, Jinmo District in Dolsan, visitors will be able to experience eight exhibition halls, including the Island Pavilion and the World Island Restaurant, as well as themed zones focusing on islands around the world and islands of Korea.

At the secondary venue, Yeosu World Expo Center, international academic conferences and other events will take place, while various experiential programs, such as family island camps, will be held on islands within the city, including Geumodo and Gaedo.
