Map App Update: Enhanced Version of the Previous "Nearby" Tab
Naver announced on June 19, 2025, that it has introduced a new 'Discover' tab to its Naver Map application, offering users information on popular places nearby or across the country.
Through the latest update to the map app, Naver has added the 'Discover' tab as the first option on the bottom left. This tab features various themed recommendation sections, such as ▲Trending Places Now ▲Recommended Places Based on My Activity ▲Popular Saved Lists ▲Benefits Available Nearby ▲Nationwide Hot Places, introducing a wide range of locations based on the user's location or interests.
The newly introduced Discover is an enhanced version of the previous 'Nearby' tab. Naver measures the popularity of places using its own data and reflects this in its recommendations, allowing users to instantly access information on trending locations at the time they check the app.
With the Discover tab, users can now easily browse information on popular places in broader categories, including restaurants, cultural facilities, and local attractions both nearby and nationwide. Additionally, when locations such as Bukchon, Gangneung, Busan, or Jeju become especially popular among users, they are highlighted in dedicated regional recommendation sections, showcasing all the trending spots within those areas.
Information on event coupons offered by local businesses around the user is also provided in a separate section, helping to increase the likelihood of users visiting those locations.
Jung Kyunghwa, leader of Naver Map, stated, "Going forward, Naver Map will continue to bring offline information online, offering differentiated services that not only make searching and exploring places easier, but also enhance the joy of discovery."
