Kronberg Ensemble Chamber Music Concert: Beethoven, Janacek, Schumann

to Present Chamber Music Masterpieces
at IBK Chamber Hall on June 21

The Kronberg Ensemble, comprised of four young string musicians who studied at the Kronberg Academy in Germany, will take the stage at the IBK Chamber Hall of Seoul Arts Center on the afternoon of June 21.

The Kronberg Ensemble is a group of performers from four different nationalities. Violinist Steven Kim, a Korean-American, distinguished himself by winning third prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition and by making notable appearances at the Paganini and Sendai Competitions. Violinist Fumika Mori was the youngest winner of the 2012 Seoul International Music Competition. Violist Park Hayang became the first Korean to win first prize at the Tokyo International Viola Competition. Cellist Anuschka Hack received the top Prix Pre?piremenich award at the Verbier Festival.

Pianist Shin Changyong, the first Korean to win the Gina Bachauer Competition, will join them on stage.

This concert, which will sensibly interpret the essence of traditional chamber music, will feature representative chamber pieces from the classical, romantic, and modern eras.

The program will begin with Beethoven's String Quartet No. 6, regarded as the most lyrical of his early quartets. This will be followed by Janacek's passionate String Quartet No. 1 "Kreutzer Sonata," a work inspired by his reaction to Tolstoy's novel of the same name.

The final piece will be Schumann's Piano Quintet, considered a pinnacle of romantic chamber music.
