Gongju City Promotes Metaverse "Gongju World" to Youth

Virtual Experience of World Heritage and Local Festivals
Connecting the Local Economy with Albam Game Mileage

On June 19, Gongju City in South Chungcheong Province announced that it will promote its metaverse platform, "Gongju World," targeting the youth demographic.

The city is currently conducting the first phase of its promotional campaign, which runs until July 9, targeting participants in the Youth Culture Center programs. In the second half of the year, the city plans to continue its promotional efforts in collaboration with the Youth Culture Center and the Youth Dream Creation Studio.

"Gongju World" is a digital experience space integrated with the "Onnuri Gongju System," which has 230,000 members. Any Onnuri Gongju Citizen can freely access the platform.

The platform offers a variety of content, including: decorating "My Room," a city administration promotional hall, a metaverse of UNESCO World Heritage sites and major tourist attractions, an introduction and experience of 5 Provinces 2 Villages, and a metaverse academy.

In particular, the platform recreates major local heritage sites and festivals, such as UNESCO World Heritage sites, the Seokjangni Paleolithic Festival, and the Baekje Cultural Festival, in a virtual space, providing domestic and international users with unique cultural experiences.

Additionally, mileage points earned through the "Albam Cultivation Game" can be used at the local specialty shopping mall "Gomatnaru Market," thus strengthening the connection with the local economy.

Yeom Seongbun, Director of the Public Relations and Media Office, stated, "The metaverse 'Gongju World' is a platform that delivers a vivid sense of actually being in Gongju. We hope that not only young people but anyone nationwide will register as an Onnuri Gongju Citizen and enjoy real benefits."

Meanwhile, the "Onnuri Gongju Citizen" program is a citizen participation initiative that allows individuals to obtain citizen status online without changing their resident registration. Benefits include discounts at affiliated stores, participation in Baekje cultural tours, and access to city administration and tourism information.
