Ulleung County Holds Inaugural Meeting of Talent Development Foundation... Scholarships for High-Achieving Students in Need

On June 18, Ulleung County held the inaugural general meeting of the "Ulleung County Talent Development Foundation" at the county office's second conference room.


The Ulleung County Talent Development Foundation is the first incorporated foundation in Ulleung County. It aims to expand educational opportunities by providing scholarships and various support programs to local students who are experiencing financial difficulties or who have outstanding potential.

Through these efforts, the foundation plans to help Ulleungdo students grow into key players in solving local issues, seek creative solutions in various fields, and establish a sustainable development model tailored to Ulleung.


At the inaugural general meeting, three agenda items were reviewed and approved: the appointment of the chairperson, the enactment of the articles of incorporation and operational regulations, and the business plans for 2025 to 2027.


Nam Han-gwon, who was elected as the chairperson on the day and also serves as the governor of Ulleung County, said, "I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who participated in establishing the foundation. As a resident, as the chairperson, and as the governor of Ulleung County, I will continue to support the sustainable development of Ulleung County through education."


Going forward, the foundation will be officially established after obtaining approval from the Gyeongbuk Provincial Superintendent of Education, completing the registration and tax office procedures. The foundation plans to hold a launch ceremony in July and begin its projects in the second half of 2025.


Fifteen people attended the inaugural general meeting, including Nam Han-gwon, governor of Ulleung County; Kim Nam-hee, Ulleung County senior job program manager; Kim Myung-sook, former principal of Namyang Elementary School in Ulleung; Park Sung-sik, manager of the Dokdo Museum at Ulleung County Office; Park Won-ho, director of WeAreTheWorld; Park Chan-woong, CEO of Nomador; Lee Kwang-young, executive director of Myungshin Co., Ltd.; Lee Ki-chun, former professor at Korea University; Lee Dong-shin, superintendent of Ulleung Office of Education; Lee Myung-hyuk, former director at Korea Land and Housing Corporation; Jeong Sung-uk, head of the Ulleung County branch of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation; Jeong Jong-seok, chairperson of the Ulleung County School Steering Committee; Cho Young-chul, principal of Ulleung High School; Han Ik-hyun, CEO of Ujeong Industries; and Hong Sung-geun, Ulleung County council member.
