The blueprint for the future of advanced railroad technology in Korea is being unveiled in Busan.
On June 18, Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) announced that it will participate in the "2025 Busan International Railroad Technology Industry Exhibition" (hereinafter referred to as the Railroad Industry Exhibition), held at BEXCO in Busan from June 18 to June 21, where it will showcase advanced systems such as real-time railroad operation information and condition-based maintenance (CBM).
The Railroad Industry Exhibition is hosted jointly by KORAIL, the National Railroad Authority, and Busan Metropolitan City, with the support of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Now in its 12th edition, this year's exhibition is the largest ever, with 137 companies from the railroad sector representing 17 countries participating.

KORAIL has set up an exhibition hall of approximately 70 pyeong at BEXCO, the venue of the Railroad Industry Exhibition. The exhibition hall operates three themed booths: Innovation Technology, Win-Win Cooperation, and KORAIL Promotion, presenting KORAIL's vision for the future of railroads through customer-centric service and the integration of safety technologies.
The Innovation Technology Zone is designed as a space to introduce advanced technologies that KORAIL has developed or commercialized, allowing visitors to get a comprehensive view of the digital transformation and future technologies that will change railroad operations.
Here, visitors can experience data-driven smart technologies such as the real-time train operation information system, the railroad meteorological information system, and the condition-based maintenance system.
In particular, KORAIL plans to highlight realism by demonstrating a metaverse-based integrated railroad vehicle platform that simulates high-speed train maintenance processes in a virtual space using VR (virtual reality) devices.
In the Win-Win Cooperation Zone, technologies that are about to be commercialized, such as an autonomous track inspection device and a station guide robot jointly developed with small and venture enterprises, will be unveiled to the public.
KORAIL will also introduce its "Railroad Technology Commercialization Support Project," which has been promoted to foster mutual growth with small partner companies, and on-site consultations will be available to provide information on support details and application procedures.

In the Promotion Zone, visitors will have the opportunity to experience the KTX driving simulator and an extended reality (XR) experience zone for maintaining railroad vehicles and screen doors. In addition, a space has been set up to watch KORAIL's own media, such as the YouTube channel "KORAIL TV," as well as K-Rail One Team videos and safety equipment promotional videos.
KORAIL President Han Moonhee stated, "I hope the Railroad Industry Exhibition will serve as a stepping stone for expanding the business network of 'K-Rail' and for railroad-related organizations and companies to advance into the global market," adding, "KORAIL will continue its efforts to create an environment where the public can use railroads more safely and conveniently."
