Promise to Share Tourism Information and Cooperate on Promotion
Gyeryong City in South Chungcheong Province is partnering with the Seoul Tourism Organization to revitalize the local tourism industry.
On June 18, Gyeryong City announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Seoul Tourism Organization at the city hall situation room to promote regional tourism development.
The signing ceremony was attended by Mayor Lee Eungwoo, Gil Giyeon, CEO of the Seoul Tourism Organization, and about ten officials from both organizations.
This MOU aims to establish a system of mutual cooperation between the two institutions and to lay the foundation for the sustainable development of the local tourism industry.
Under the agreement, both parties will strengthen cooperation in various areas, including the mutual exchange and collaboration of tourism information, the establishment of tourism networks, and joint domestic and international tourism promotion targeting both Korean and foreign tourists.
Gil Giyeon, CEO of the Seoul Tourism Organization, delivered a special lecture on the theme "The Power to Revitalize Regions: Local Coexistence Tourism Strategies."
In the special lecture held for public officials from Gyeryong City Hall and the Gyeryong Culture and Tourism Foundation, CEO Gil shared the Seoul Tourism Organization's policy directions and successful cases of collaboration with local governments, emphasizing the importance of specialized tourism strategies that utilize the unique culture and resources of each region.
He further stated, "Tourism is a key industry that drives the local economy," and suggested, "Let us create a model for coexistence by linking region-specific strategies with Seoul's tourism infrastructure."
Mayor Lee Eungwoo said, "This MOU is a meaningful first step in injecting new vitality into tourism in Gyeryong City," and added, "Through cooperation with the Seoul Tourism Organization, I hope this will not only revitalize the local economy but also serve as an opportunity for Gyeryong City to become a sustainable tourism city."
Meanwhile, Gyeryong City plans to use this agreement as a starting point to accelerate the development of tourism resources that reflect the unique characteristics of the region and to actively pursue differentiated tourism marketing strategies to further strengthen local competitiveness.
