According to foreign media outlets such as the Independent and Times of India on June 17 (local time), the woman at the center of the incident is Nishada, an Indian woman who has been actively posting daily Reels (short videos) on Instagram. She submitted a complaint to the police, stating, "My husband, Vikzendra, demanded that I reduce my social media use and focus on housework, so I was unable to create Reels, which caused my follower count to decrease by two."

According to reports, after a conflict with her husband, Nishada left their home and moved to her parents' house in Hapur. She then reported her husband to the local women's police station on charges of harassment. In response, her husband criticized her, saying, "Nishada threatened to leave me if I interfered with her social media activities," and added, "My wife is addicted to social media and is neglecting household duties and real life."

The conflict was temporarily resolved after the police recommended marital counseling to the couple. A police official stated, "After several counseling sessions, Nishada withdrew her complaint." However, the couple remains separated, and it is reported that her husband Vikzendra lost his job due to this incident and is currently struggling to find new employment.
