Ulju County Launches WalkOn Challenge to Support Banguchun Petroglyphs World Heritage Listing

This challenge is a non-face-to-face walking program using the smartphone app "WalkOn." It aims to raise awareness of local cultural heritage and encourage residents to practice healthy daily habits.

Participants can collect animal characters such as whales, tigers, and wild boars, which appear in the Banguchun Petroglyphs, in proportion to the distance they walk, and earn points accordingly. Those who reach certain milestones will be eligible for prizes through a lottery. Notably, additional points are awarded for visiting the actual heritage site, making this content stand out as it allows participants to experience cultural heritage and practice healthy habits simultaneously.

To participate, install the "WalkOn" app on your smartphone, join the official Ulju County Health Center community, and register for the challenge. For more details, contact the Health Promotion Team at Ulju County Health Center.

A representative from Ulju County Health Center stated, "Through this digital walking challenge, we aim to widely promote the value of the Banguchun Petroglyphs and increase public interest in health. We also plan to continue operating various themed walking programs that anyone in the county can easily join."

Last year, Ulju County enacted the "Walking Promotion Support Ordinance" and officially introduced the "WalkOn" app. The number of cumulative subscribers has reached 3,600 to date. The county continues to implement various initiatives to spread a culture of daily walking.
