Wudumji Farm, a leading smart farm company in Korea, announced on June 18 that it has completed the construction of Korea's largest single-unit "European-style vegetable greenhouse," covering 8,000 pyeong, and has begun trial operations.
According to Wudumji Farm, the European-style vegetable greenhouse, which has been under preparation since 2023 as part of its future food business, will begin full-scale cultivation this month after undergoing trial operations. This follows extensive research and development aimed at minimizing trial and error during the cultivation stage.
The construction area is 25,439 square meters (approximately 8,000 pyeong), making it the largest semi-closed greenhouse in Korea.
A hybrid advanced system has been implemented, combining the company’s proprietary semi-closed glass greenhouse technology with the latest European horticultural technology, the Mobile Gully System (MGS), an automated facility. In particular, a Wudumji Farm official stated that the greenhouse maximizes both yield and quality by applying a high-efficiency cooling system, which is responsible for ensuring the high quality of the vegetables grown.
Once the smart farm, designed to produce 130 kilograms per pyeong, enters full operation, it is expected to shorten the cultivation period to 20 days and enable 18 harvests per year. As a result, the company forecasts that average monthly production will increase by more than 300% compared to soil-based cultivation.
By adding European-style vegetables to its existing tomato and Tomango product lines, Wudumji Farm anticipates significant external growth starting this year.
Kim Hoyoun, CEO of Wudumji Farm, emphasized, "With the operation of this smart farm, we will be able to resolve the unstable domestic vegetable supply issue," and added, "We will continue to expand innovative agricultural projects that align with the new government’s agricultural policies, and lead the company to contribute to national development as an agricultural enterprise."
