Lotte Card Introduces UnionPay QR Payment Service to LocaPay

Available in Over 40 Countries Including Japan, Malaysia, Argentina, and Turkiye

Lotte Card announced on June 18, 2025, that it has introduced the UnionPay QR payment service to its LocaPay platform.

The UnionPay QR payment adopts the standard specifications of EMVCo, an international credit card consortium. It is a global payment service available in more than 40 countries, including China, Japan, Malaysia, Argentina, and T?rkiye.

Customers can use this service on LocaPay, the app card service, with both Lotte Card UnionPay-branded cards and domestic-only cards.

This is the first time that UnionPay QR payments can be made using domestic-only cards.

To use the UnionPay QR payment, users can select "Overseas" in the Digiroca app's LocaPay, then tap either the "On-site Payment" or "QR Scan" button. After identity verification, the service becomes available.

A Lotte Card representative stated, "As customer demand for convenient overseas payments has grown, we have partnered with UnionPay to introduce the QR payment service to the Digiroca app. We expect to provide a convenient payment experience in China and Southeast Asia, where QR payments are widely used."
