Mayor Choi Woncheol Achieves 90.24% Pledge Fulfillment Rate in Gongju City: "Honoring Promises to Citizens" Choi Woncheol, Mayor of Gongju City

Gongju City in South Chungcheong Province is demonstrating a high rate of fulfillment of its pledges in the 8th popularly elected administration, thereby concretizing its policy achievements. On June 18, the city announced that it had held its second Policy Advisory Committee meeting of the year at the Daebaekje Hall in City Hall, where it conducted a comprehensive review of the progress in implementing the 8th administration's pledged projects.

This meeting was organized to share the current status of the implementation of a total of 76 pledged projects, activities of the Citizen Monitoring Group for Pledges, and policy trends of central government ministries and related agencies.

According to the city, the overall fulfillment rate of the 8th administration's pledges currently stands at 90.24%, indicating that the implementation of pledges is now on a stable track. This is seen as evidence that the city is responsibly honoring its promises to citizens.

The fulfillment rates for the four main municipal goals are as follows: ▲ 87.18% for “A Premium City Overflowing with People,” ▲ 89.92% for “A Vibrant Economic City,” ▲ 95.63% for “An Education and Welfare City Where Citizens Are Happy,” and ▲ 88.26% for “A City of Dignified Culture and Tourism.”

In particular, with the recent completion of the 'Nataejoo Literary Creation Platform' and the 'Village Harmony Platform' (formerly Academy Theater), the city has expanded its urban regeneration projects. In addition, two major pending issues, including the resolution of parking shortages in apartment complexes, have also been completed, bringing the total number of completed pledged projects to 42 so far.

The city aims to achieve a 95% pledge fulfillment rate within the year and plans to make continuous visits to related institutions such as central government ministries, the National Assembly, and South Chungcheong Province to secure national and provincial funding.

In addition, the city plans to continue reviewing pledges and preparing policy alternatives through the Policy Advisory Committee.

Mayor Choi Woncheol stated, "A pledge is not simply an administrative plan, but a promise to citizens and a core value in city administration," adding, "Together with public officials, I will do my utmost to secure national and provincial funding and to strengthen execution capabilities in order to deliver tangible results."
