Daejeon City Fully Activates Disaster Alert Response System for Heavy Rainfall

Operation of Early Warning System Focused on Flood-Prone Areas

Daejeon City Fully Activates Disaster Alert Response System for Heavy Rainfall

The Daejeon city government announced that it will fully activate its disaster alert response system in preparation for heavy rainfall during the monsoon season.

In the event of disasters such as flooding caused by heavy rainfall, the city plans to promptly notify citizens and guide them to evacuate by issuing a voice broadcast using warning sirens within one minute, in accordance with the established manual.

In particular, the city will establish an early warning system focused on areas with a high risk of frequent flooding, such as the vicinity of Daedongcheon and Mannyeon Bridge. When weather conditions worsen, advance notice broadcasts and actual disaster alerts will be used to enhance residents' response capabilities.

If Mannyeon Bridge becomes flooded, voice warnings will be issued using warning sirens at three locations: Wolpyeong 1-dong (Daejeon Transportation Corporation), Eoeun-dong (Yuseong District Office), and Oncheon 1-dong. In the event of flooding in Daedongcheon, alerts will be issued at two locations: Daedong and Shinin-dong.

Yoo Sejong, Director of Citizen Safety at Daejeon City, stated, "Heavy rainfall during the monsoon season can quickly lead to large-scale flooding, so it is especially important to operate the disaster alert system quickly and accurately." He added, "When receiving guidance broadcasts or disaster alerts related to heavy rainfall, we ask that you follow the instructions to prevent safety accidents."
