The Yangsan Branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor has taken action to protect workers' health amid the heatwave.
As the hot weather has begun in earnest, the branch conducted on-site inspections to check compliance with the "Five Basic Heatwave Safety Rules."
On June 17, Kwon Guhyung, head of the Yangsan Branch, visited a logistics site in Gimhae, South Gyeongsang Province, to inspect the implementation of heatwave safety rules, including "providing at least 20 minutes of rest within two hours when working in temperatures above 33 degrees Celsius."

The inspection covered the "Five Basic Heatwave Safety Rules": providing water, ensuring ventilation and shade, regular breaks, providing cooling equipment, and establishing emergency response systems.
This year's first heatwave advisory was issued in some regions on June 8, and on June 16, advisories were also issued for Gimhae and Miryang. The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasts that, as perceived temperatures rise in each region, the heatwave alert level will gradually be raised.
Accordingly, since May 30, the Yangsan Branch has been operating a "Special Heatwave Safety Task Force" and is conducting intensive inspections of vulnerable workplaces with many outdoor workers, such as those in construction, logistics, and distribution sectors in the region.
Kwon Guhyung, head of the branch, stated, "As the first heatwave advisory of the summer has been issued for the Gimhae area, it is crucial for workplaces to take active measures to prevent heat-related illnesses," and urged, "Industries with many outdoor workers, such as construction and logistics, must thoroughly implement the five heatwave safety rules."
