Park Junhyun, Head of Audit Team at Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation, Obtains Certified Internal Auditor Qualification

First and Only Certified Internal Auditor in Gyeonggi-Affiliated Organizations

Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation announced on June 18 that Park Junhyun, head of the Audit Team, has obtained the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) qualification, the world's only professional certification for auditors.

The CIA is the only globally recognized internal audit professional certification, administered by the Institute of Internal Auditors since 1974. It is recognized as a benchmark that verifies the professional competencies of internal auditors in a wide range of fields, including not only audit theory and practice but also management, accounting, information technology, and information security.

For this reason, organizations such as the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Financial Supervisory Service recommend obtaining the CIA qualification as an auditor credential, alongside certifications such as Certified Public Accountant and attorney. As of June 2025, there are only about 1,500 CIA holders in Korea, and approximately 200,000 in about 160 countries worldwide.

With Park's achievement, Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation has become the first public institution in Gyeonggi Province to both produce and employ a Certified Internal Auditor. Among the 33 public interest-related organizations under the Gyeonggi Provincial Government, as well as those subject to the 2025 Comprehensive Integrity Assessment conducted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission and Gyeonggi Province, Park is the only CIA holder.

Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation achieved a Grade 2 rating (the highest in its evaluation group) for the first time in the institution's history in the 2024 Comprehensive Integrity Assessment conducted by Gyeonggi Province, and is operating with ISO 37001 (Anti-Bribery Management System) certification.

Park Junhyun stated, "I keenly felt the need to systematically acquire audit knowledge and strengthen my expertise, which led me to begin preparing for the CIA. Going forward, I will continue to strive to maintain the independence of the audit department, uphold objectivity as an auditor, and enhance my professional competencies."
