Gyeonggi Province and the Next Generation Convergence Technology Institute will operate the "Visiting Semiconductor Classroom" program for two days on June 19 and 20 at the Next Generation Convergence Technology Institute.
This initiative is designed to enhance understanding of the semiconductor industry among middle school students and their parents in the province, and to provide opportunities for career exploration. The educational program will be divided into theoretical and practical training sessions.
The theoretical training will focus on basic semiconductor concepts, the operating principles of transistors, and semiconductor processes such as photolithography and deposition. The practical training will allow participants to use semiconductor training equipment in a cleanroom environment to practice wafer fabrication, photolithography, and deposition processes, based on what they learned during the theoretical session.
The training will be conducted by researchers from the Next Generation Convergence Technology Institute and professional safety education instructors.
The program is open to 20 third-year middle school students and their parents from within the province. The Next Generation Convergence Technology Institute accepted applications in May and selected participants through a lottery.
In particular, the participation of parents in this program is expected to provide substantial support for students as they explore potential careers related to semiconductors.
Hong Seongho, Director of the Semiconductor Industry Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "The Visiting Semiconductor Classroom is a valuable opportunity for young people to experience the semiconductor industry firsthand and make informed career decisions," adding, "Gyeonggi Province will do its utmost to nurture semiconductor talent by providing tailored education for youth, young adults, and current employees across all groups."
