Participation in 'South Summit Madrid 2025'
Accelerating Global Expansion of AI Data Platform Business
A Korean startup was the only Asian company to be invited to Europe's largest startup and innovation event. The company in question is Ditonic, an artificial intelligence (AI) data platform firm, which participated in "South Summit Madrid 2025," held in Madrid, Spain, from June 4 to 6. Ditonic, which spun off from Hyundai Motor Company as an in-house venture in 2014, has developed AI-based core technologies for processing data quickly and efficiently. The company is now attracting attention as it rapidly expands its business in the global market.
On June 18, Ditonic announced that it had participated in the South Summit semifinal session as an invited company and gave a presentation on on-device computing based on its AI data platform. On-device computing refers to technology that enables devices to process data analysis and other functions using built-in AI capabilities. Inora Ditonic, Senior Executive of Global Business, highlighted the features and efficiency of AI platform-based on-device computing, stating, "On-device AI platforms help reduce data traffic, minimize network latency, and also limit the risk of personal data leakage. This, in turn, can help reduce social costs and power consumption."

South Summit, where Ditonic made its mark, is Europe's largest startup and innovation event, launched in 2012. Each year, global entrepreneurs and investors gather at the event, which has seen a cumulative investment of 13 trillion won and has produced seven unicorns. For this year's South Summit semifinal, only 100 startups were selected out of over 4,000 applicants. Ditonic was invited to the Madrid event after winning first place at the startup competition session during the inaugural Asian edition held last October.
Ditonic continued its global networking efforts after the event. Senior Executive Inora Ditonic attended a private event hosted by King Felipe VI of Spain, where she communicated directly with the King. King Felipe VI stated, "AI is a key driver of innovation, scalability, and competitive advantage," and emphasized the importance of "continuing efforts to promote the ethical and balanced use of AI." Only 60 people, including Senior Executive Ditonic, were invited to this gathering. Ditonic also received meeting requests from investors and companies not only in Europe but also in the Middle East and Singapore, discussing potential avenues for collaboration.
As a result, Ditonic's expansion of its AI data platform business in the global market is expected to accelerate. Ditonic recently completed a smart parking demonstration project based on the Smart City Data Hub in Santander, Spain. The company has also participated in a variety of AI-based smart city projects, including the construction of a "Smart Integrated Control System" in Hue, Vietnam last year, an "ICT-based Integrated Air Quality Management System" in Mongolia this year, and the "Kuala Lumpur Smart City" project in Malaysia. CEO Jeon Yongjoo stated, "We will leverage our data platform technology, which serves as the AI infrastructure for smart cities, and our accumulated service experience to expand the territory of K-AI."
