Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping are scheduled to discuss the Middle East crisis caused by the conflict between Israel and Iran in a phone call in the near future.
According to TASS news agency, Yuri Ushakov, the Kremlin's foreign policy aide, said on June 17 (local time) that the two leaders would hold a phone call "literally within a few days, this week." He added that, in addition to bilateral relations, the current situation in the Middle East?where Russia and China are acting together and coordinating their positions?will be discussed.
Advisor Ushakov stated that President Putin will attend the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), which will be held in Russia's second-largest city, St. Petersburg, from June 18 to June 21.
The main session on June 20 will also feature speeches by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Bahraini Prince Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang, and South African Deputy President Paul Mashatile.
President Putin plans to hold a separate meeting with Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang on June 20. He also intends to meet with Haitham Al Ghais, Secretary General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), to discuss the state of the global oil market in relation to the Middle East crisis.
