First Meeting at the G7 Summit
"Agreed to Further Develop the Comprehensive Cooperative Partnership"
President Lee Jaemyung, who is visiting Kananaskis, Canada to attend the Group of Seven (G7) Summit, held a summit meeting with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on the morning of the 17th (local time).
According to the Office of the President, President Lee expressed his gratitude for President Lula's congratulatory message on his inauguration and highly praised Brazil's strengthened status as a key nation of the Global South under President Lula's leadership. He also emphasized his commitment to expanding economic cooperation with Brazil, which is Korea's largest trading and investment partner in South America.
In addition, the Office of the President explained that the two leaders reaffirmed the need for cooperation on global issues such as responding to climate change, and agreed to expand collaboration on the international stage.
In particular, based on their shared philosophy of prioritizing integration between the left and right as well as pragmatism, the two leaders agreed to further develop the comprehensive cooperative partnership between Korea and Brazil, taking this summit?the first in ten years between the two countries?as an opportunity.
