Mango Bingsu Priced at 14,000 Won... Bingsu Options Starting from 3,000 Won
Seongsimdang, a well-known bakery in Daejeon, has launched a "value for money" mango bingsu in the 10,000 won range to mark the summer season.

According to the retail industry on June 17, Seongsimdang is selling its "Fresh Mango Bingsu," released last month, for 14,000 won. In a video released by Seongsimdang, the bingsu is prepared by layering fresh mango at the bottom of the bowl, adding snowflake milk ice topped with a mango base, and finishing with fresh mango slices and popping boba.
In addition to the mango bingsu, Seongsimdang offers a variety of other bingsu options in the 10,000 won range. The Korean Black Sesame Bingsu, sold at "Seongsimdang Yetmat Somssi" located across from the main Seongsimdang store in Daejeon, is priced at 12,000 won, while the Bomunsan Bingsu, Pumpkin Bingsu, and Nonsan Bingsu are each 10,000 won.
There are also bingsu options priced under 10,000 won. The "Legendary Patbingsu" is 6,500 won, the Injeolmi Bingsu is 7,500 won, and the Snowflake Strawberry Bingsu is 6,500 won. Additionally, cup bingsu (red bean, strawberry) in single-serving portions is available for 3,500 won, and the Fresh Mango Cup Bingsu is 4,000 won.
Mango bingsu is a dessert that remains popular every summer. However, as luxury hotels in Korea have raised the price of mango bingsu each year, the financial burden on consumers has increased.
For example, Four Seasons Hotel Seoul in Gwanghwamun is selling its Jeju Apple Mango Bingsu for 149,000 won, an 18% increase from last year. The Shilla Hotel Seoul and Lotte Hotel Seoul have also raised the price of their mango bingsu to 110,000 won each this year.
Against this backdrop, Seongsimdang, famous for its "value for money" cakes, is drawing attention for launching bingsu at a relatively affordable price point.
Meanwhile, Seongsimdang, which opened in 1956, is a representative bakery in Daejeon. In 2023, it became the first single bakery brand to surpass annual sales of 100 billion won, establishing itself as a leading local brand. One of Seongsimdang's most popular menu items is the "Siru Cake," which contains strawberries, mangoes, tangerines, figs, and more, and is priced at 43,000 won for the standard size. Even as fruit prices have soared, Seongsimdang has attracted attention by offering cakes with more fruit than bread or cream at relatively affordable prices.
