Jeollanam-do held a progress report meeting at the provincial government office on June 16 to ensure the successful hosting of the 2025 Kim Daejung Peace Conference, scheduled for September. During the meeting, the province reviewed detailed operational plans, including academic conferences and cultural events.
Now in its third year, the Kim Daejung Peace Conference is Jeonnam Province's representative international event, aiming to carry on the legacy of President Kim Daejung's spirit of peace, democracy, and human rights, and to widely promote these values both domestically and internationally.
The meeting was attended by eight executive committee members, including Myung Changhwan, Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs of Jeonnam Province and co-chair, and Baek Haksoon, Director of the Kim Daejung Peace Center, as well as about 20 other participants from Mokpo City, Shinan County, and related organizations. The attendees discussed the overall program structure and detailed operational plans.
Main agenda items included the topics and session composition of the academic conference, online and offline promotional strategies, plans for cultural events and performers, management of domestic and international participants, venue layout, and safety management measures. The current progress in each area was shared, and supplementary measures for each field were reviewed.
Through this meeting, Jeonnam Province plans to closely examine the progress in each area during the remaining preparation period and to further enhance the quality of the event.
The 2025 Kim Daejung Peace Conference is scheduled to take place from September 24 to 26 at Hotel Hyundai by Lahan Mokpo in Yeongam and across the Mokpo area. Under the theme "A New Vision of Mutual Prosperity and Peace for the World and the Korean Peninsula," the event will bring together leading scholars from Korea and abroad.
