Coway BEREX Beds Pass Safety Tests for Radioactive Substances Including Radon

All 34 Frame Models Pass Safety Tests for 7 Types of Radioactive Substances by Nationally Accredited Agency
Following Mattresses, Frames Also Tested... All BEREX Bed Products Pass Safety Inspections

Coway announced on June 17 that all beds from its sleep and healing care brand "BEREX" have passed safety tests for radioactive substances, including radon and uranium.

Coway conducted radioactive substance analysis on all 34 BEREX bed frame models, and all of them passed the safety tests. This follows the safety testing for radioactive substances conducted on all 18 mattress models in January, and this time, the evaluation was extended to all frame models as well.

The recent radioactive substance safety tests were carried out by KOTITI Testing & Research Institute, an accredited testing agency under the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (KOLAS) of the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards. The tests confirmed that the products meet legal standards set by the Ministry of Environment, the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission, and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. KOTITI Testing & Research Institute is a precision analysis institution recognized by KOLAS and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for radioactivity testing, and it measures and analyzes radioactive substances that may be contained in everyday products during manufacturing processes.

As a result of these tests, all 34 currently available models, including the "BEREX Grace Frame" and "BEREX Volume Frame," passed with levels of radioactive substances below the regulatory limits. The products underwent precise inspections using a gamma spectrometer (HPGe), and the tests covered not only radon but also uranium, thorium, potassium, iodine, and cesium for detection safety.

Coway also operates its own rigorous safety evaluation tests. Using professional measuring equipment approved by the Ministry of Environment, the company analyzes the emission levels of radon and thoron from mattress products, materials, and components in sealed chambers, ensuring that they remain below regulatory thresholds. In addition, Coway uses portable radiation detectors to ensure safety from gamma radiation emissions as well as radon.

A Coway representative stated, "All BEREX bed products have undergone objective verification of their safety regarding radioactive substances through nationally accredited testing agencies. Furthermore, we manage them according to strict standards, using precise measurement equipment rather than simple detectors. Going forward, we will continue to prioritize quality and safety, maintain thorough verification processes, and fulfill our responsibility as a brand that consumers can trust and choose."
