University Hospitals in the Chungcheong Region Hold Rare Disease Specialized Institution Symposium

Sejong Chungnam National University Hospital announced on June 17 that it successfully held the 1st Central Region Rare Disease Specialized Institution Symposium at the main auditorium on the first floor of the Clinical Simulation Center of Chungnam National University Hospital.

The symposium, co-hosted by the Rare Disease Center of Chungnam National University Hospital, the Sejong Regional Rare Disease Specialized Institution of Sejong Chungnam National University Hospital, and the Rare Genetic Disease Center of Chungbuk National University Hospital, focused on research and diagnostic approaches for rare diseases, as well as the latest clinical application cases of rare diseases.

Kim Yumi, Director of the Sejong Regional Rare Disease Specialized Institution, stated, "It is difficult to achieve effective treatment for rare diseases through the efforts of a single institution alone, so it is important to establish a systematic medical support system through close cooperation among medical professionals and continuous research." She added, "Our society needs to increase understanding and awareness of rare diseases, and it is necessary to provide ongoing support and consideration so that patients and their families are not marginalized."
