Lee Cheol, Former President of the Korean Methodist Church, Appointed as New Chairman of Mokwon University Methodist Foundation

Lee Cheol, former president of the Korean Methodist Church, has been appointed as the new chairman of the board of trustees of the Mokwon University Methodist Foundation.


On the 17th, the Methodist Foundation announced that its board of directors had appointed Lee as the 29th chairman.

Lee's term as chairman will last four years, starting from this day. Lee graduated from Mokwon University (Department of Theology, Class of 1972) and North Park Theological Seminary in the United States, and later earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from San Francisco Theological Seminary.


Lee has previously served as the 29th president of the Korean Methodist Church and as the senior pastor of Gangneung Jungang Church. He is currently serving as a director of the Mokwon University Methodist Foundation and as co-CEO of CTS Christian TV.


Lee is recognized for having led efforts to enhance the denomination’s stature and promote internal unity while serving as president of the Korean Methodist Church until last year. He also contributed to strengthening domestic and international cooperation and social responsibility. The president of the Korean Methodist Church is responsible for representing and overseeing the work of the church’s general assembly and headquarters.
