Goheung Governor Gong Youngmin Launches All-Out Effort to Secure National Funding at National Assembly

Request for Budget Support for Major Projects Including Space Railway Construction

Gong Youngmin, Governor of Goheung County in South Jeolla Province, visited the National Assembly on June 16 ahead of attending the Chamjoeun Local Government Council meeting at the National Assembly Members' Office Building in Seoul, launching an all-out effort to secure national funding.

Governor Gong met with Woo Wonsik, Speaker of the National Assembly, as well as Democratic Party lawmakers Moon Geumjoo (Goheung, Boseong, Jangheung, and Gangjin in South Jeolla), Ahn Kyubaek (Dongdaemun-gap, Seoul), and Moon Daerim (Jeju-si-gap), to explain the county's key projects and strongly request active financial support.

The six major projects proposed by Goheung County on this day include the construction of the Goheung Space Railway (inclusion in the national plan), the Gwangju-Goheung Expressway construction (inclusion in the national plan), the expansion of National Road No. 15 from Goheung to Bongrae (514.2 billion won), the establishment of the National Goheung Dadohae Forest Healing Center (100.2 billion won), the construction of the Nokdong New Port Smart Joint Logistics Center (20 billion won), and the establishment of a national defense space launch test facility (46 billion won).

Governor Gong stated, "The SOC projects proposed this time are crucial tasks that will determine Goheung's future and must be reflected in the national budget," and added, "I will continue to visit the National Assembly and central government agencies as needed to explain the necessity and validity of these projects."
