Busan Education Office Launches "Visiting School Violence Prevention Education" for Parents

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Seokjun) will conduct the "Visiting Parent Education" program from June 17 to July 14 to raise parents' awareness of school violence and support the healthy growth of their children.

This program is designed to enable busy parents to participate more easily by combining "workplace-linked education" and "region-based visiting education."

The program will visit major government offices such as City Hall, the Police Agency, district offices, as well as companies affiliated with the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry. At the same time, region-centered education will be conducted at five local education support offices to encourage broader parental participation.

The education sessions will be led by lawyers Kim Uiseong and Jin Heejung, both experts in responding to school violence. They will offer practical strategies for addressing school violence, including its definition and types, relevant laws, and guidance for parents. In particular, the lectures will focus on real-life cases, such as the role of parents in family conflict situations and restorative approaches, to enhance practical relevance.

Participants will also receive practical materials, including a casebook titled "Resolving Questions about School Violence," a brochure on the School Violence Zero Center, and information about relationship restoration programs.

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education expects this program to foster a culture in which parents view school violence not as "someone else's problem" but as an issue that concerns their own families. The office plans to accelerate the establishment of a prevention-focused school violence response system involving families, schools, and the local community.

Kim Seokjun, Superintendent of the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, stated, "Preventing school violence should begin with educational approaches rather than legal responses," and added, "The Office of Education will actively support families so that children can resolve conflicts in a healthy way at home."
