The Busan Regional Veterans Affairs Office (Director Namil Lee) will hold the '18th Joint Memorial Arts Festival for Korean Independence Patriots' at 7:00 p.m. on June 17 at the Grand Theater of Dongnae Culture Center.
This memorial arts festival is organized to honor the noble patriotism of the martyrs who resisted and sacrificed their lives for the restoration of national sovereignty during the Japanese colonial period, and to reflect on the significance of the 80th anniversary of Liberation.
The event is hosted by the Memorial Project Association for Korean Independence Patriots. Attendees will include the Director of the Busan Metropolitan Government's Administration and Autonomy Bureau, Busan City Council members, the Superintendent of the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, the Mayor of Dongnae District, members of the National Assembly, and approximately 200 citizens from various sectors.
The event will be divided into two parts: a memorial ceremony in the first part and a commemorative concert in the second part. Through a variety of artistic performances, the festival aims to shed artistic light on the sacrifice and dedication of the independence patriots.
An official from the Busan Regional Veterans Affairs Office stated, "This year marks the special occasion of the 80th anniversary of Liberation. We hope this will be a meaningful opportunity to honor the spirit of the patriots who fought for the future of the nation during its darkest times and to reaffirm their legacy in the collective memory of the people."
The Busan Regional Veterans Affairs Office is also continuously operating various events and programs to support descendants of local independence patriots and to promote a culture of honoring veterans in the region.
