The Gwangju Social Service Institute (Director Kim Daesam) officially unveiled a new character named "Itgu" to more warmly convey the institution's philosophy and values to citizens on the occasion of its 5th anniversary.
"Itgu" is a name that combines "connection" and "gu" (meaning dove in Korean), symbolizing an entity that connects people to people, hearts to hearts, and resources to social services. Shaped as a gentle sky-blue dove carrying a message of hope, Itgu is expected to serve as a symbolic bridge, traveling throughout the region and linking those in need of social services with helping hands.
The existing character "Salgu" has expressed the community's warmth with the slogan "From children to the elderly, everyone lives happily together."
The newly introduced "Itgu" is both a friend and partner to "Salgu," serving as a bridge that connects citizens with the expertise and public value of social services. Together, the two characters will embody the Gwangju Social Service Institute's vision of "Gwangju, a happy city connected through social services."
By utilizing both characters, the Gwangju Social Service Institute plans to more effectively realize its vision of "Gwangju, a happy city connected through social services." The institute will also launch a variety of promotional activities based on the two characters, including social media content, character merchandise, and citizen participation campaigns, while strengthening communication with citizens.
Director Kim Daesam stated, "Itgu is a new symbol that embodies the values and philosophy of the Gwangju Social Service Institute, representing our commitment to creating a social service environment where everyone is connected and included." He added, "We will continue to communicate and grow together with citizens to realize warm welfare and a happy Gwangju."
