Sharing a Practice-Oriented School Culture:
"The Answer Lies in Instruction"

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Seokjun) has launched an initiative to strengthen leadership capabilities for the realization of future-oriented elementary education.

The office announced that it held the '2025 Elementary School Administrators' Supervisory Capacity Building Training' over two days from June 17 to 18 in the Geoje area of Gyeongnam, with the participation of more than 330 local elementary school principals and educational professionals.

This training was designed to enhance field-oriented supervisory capabilities based on collaborative leadership. The event provided a platform to share practical solutions to key issues in elementary education, including the enhancement of curriculum-instruction-assessment, responses to school civil complaints, and the creation of autonomous school cultures.

The main program featured a special lecture by Ahn Youngja, principal of Daegu Namdong Elementary School, titled 'Creating a School Culture Centered on Curriculum - The Answer Lies in Instruction.' The lecture was well received for focusing on restoring the essence of school education and innovative strategies for building an instruction-centered organizational culture.

This was followed by a special lecture from Superintendent Kim Seokjun, titled 'Together Toward the Future, Leading Busan Education.' Superintendent Kim emphasized that the leadership of school principals is the key driver of educational change and innovation, stating, "The Office of Education will actively support schools so that the school field can autonomously change and grow."

After the special lectures, group discussions were held, during which participants shared various challenges they face in schools and engaged in in-depth discussions on practical and applicable solutions.

An official from the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education stated, "This training focused not only on the delivery of knowledge but also on practice-oriented supervision centered on the voices from the field," and added, "We will spare no effort in providing diverse support to enhance the leadership capabilities of principals and strengthen school autonomy."
