Gwangyang FEZ Authority Discusses Cooperation with Gresik Special Economic Zone in Indonesia

Sharing Experience in Developing Economic Zones
and Arranging Mutual Visits

The Gwangyang Free Economic Zone Authority (headed by Director Koo Chungon, hereafter referred to as the Gwangyang FEZ Authority) announced on June 17 that it had visited the Gresik Special Economic Zone, located adjacent to Surabaya, Indonesia, on June 16 to discuss cooperation measures between the two economic zones.

The Gresik Special Economic Zone, a designated special economic zone in Indonesia, is located near the Port of Surabaya and covers a total development area of 29 square kilometers. It features a development and industrial environment similar to that of the Gwangyang FEZ Authority, with sectors such as metal processing, chemicals, energy, and logistics.

Director Koo Chungon stated, "Since our authority shares similar industrial and development environments, I hope that we can expand our cooperative relationship by sharing experiences in operating economic zones, introducing investment companies to each other, and arranging mutual visits between our organizations."

General Manager Iskandar responded, "We would like to learn from the Gwangyang Bay Area's extensive experience and know-how in developing special economic zones. We propose to expand exchanges between tenant companies and will arrange an opportunity to visit in the near future."

Previously, on June 15, the Gwangyang FEZ Authority visited the Port of Surabaya, the second-largest city in eastern Java, Indonesia, as well as nearby industrial complexes to learn about their development status. With container ships operating three times a week between the Port of Surabaya and Gwangyang Port, logistics exchanges between the two regions are expected to expand further in line with Indonesia's rapid economic growth.
