Donated to Saipan World Resort, a Popular Destination for Koreans
Includes Explanations on Forced Labor, Memorial Monuments, and the Japanese Military "Comfort Women" Cave
Professor Seo Kyungduk of Sungshin Women's University and actress Song Hye Kyo announced on June 17 that, in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Korea's Liberation this year, they have donated 10,000 copies of a Korean history guidebook to Saipan and Tinian in the Northern Mariana Islands, a U.S. territory.
Professor Seo explained that the guidebook was produced in both Korean and English, and has been donated to Saipan World Resort, a popular destination for Korean travelers, where it is available at the reception desk. He also released a photo taken with Song Hye Kyo.

The main contents of the guidebook provide detailed information on the forced mobilization of Koreans in Saipan and Tinian, the Korean Memorial Monument, the Japanese military "comfort women" cave, and the atomic bomb loading site, among other historical sites.
Professor Seo noted that the preservation status of Korean historical sites overseas is generally not very good. He emphasized that the continued interest and visits of Korean citizens are the most important factors in preserving these historical sites abroad.
In particular, for those who are unable to visit in person, the original files can be downloaded and used from the website "Stories of Our History Encountered Overseas." This project is the first initiative carried out in celebration of the 80th anniversary of Liberation. They plan to conduct two more projects later this year.
Over the past 14 years, Professor Seo and Song Hye Kyo have donated Korean-language guidebooks, Korean signboards, and relief artworks of independence activists to 38 sites of Korean independence movements overseas, timed with significant historical anniversaries. Professor Seo planned these projects, while Song Hye Kyo provided support.
