The Passion of Youth Unstoppable Even in the Rain!
Soju Youth Culture Center in Yangsan City, Gyeongnam, successfully held the youth summer festival "There Is No Summer for Us" at the indoor gymnasium of Hyoham High School on June 14.
Despite the heavy rain and inclement weather on the day of the event, more than 500 local youths and citizens participated, filling the gymnasium with enthusiasm and passion, creating a lively and heated atmosphere.
The event began energetically with an opening declaration by Lee Seongmi, Director of the Women and Youth Division of Yangsan City (and Director of Soju Youth Culture Center). Distinguished guests included Park In, Vice Chairman of the Gyeongnam Provincial Council; Heo Yongbok, Council Member; and Jeong Youngsun, Vice President of Chunhae Health University, who attended to encourage the youth and lend prestige to the event.
"There Is No Summer for Us" was a comprehensive summer cultural event planned and operated directly by the youth, featuring a program that combined experience booths, performances, and campaigns.
A variety of organizations collaborated to operate a total of 14 experience and campaign booths, including the youth operation committee "Dandi," volunteer club "Happy Together," art club "Lien," Gaeun Middle School club, Chunhae Health University Department of Nursing, Yangsan City Youth Counseling and Welfare Center, and Yangsan City Out-of-School Youth Support Center.
The booths offered a wide range of activities, from game zones to crafts and safety education. Participants enjoyed engaging and meaningful experiences at game booths such as "Watermelon Heist" and shooting darts, as well as at craft booths like decorating mother-of-pearl mirrors, making friendship bracelets, creating jewel cross-stitch smart-tok, practicing CPR, and making whistle keyrings.
In particular, the experience booths operated directly by the youth, from activity guidance to material preparation and management, received an enthusiastic response.
The performance program further heightened the excitement of the festival. A total of 18 youth performance teams, including 7 band teams and 11 dance and cheerleading teams, took the stage and showcased explosive energy and talent. The audience, which filled the gymnasium, responded with applause and cheers, creating a passionate atmosphere for every performance.
A representative of Soju Youth Culture Center stated, "This was a festival that truly showcased the planning and execution abilities of the youth. Despite the inclement weather, the enthusiasm for participation was remarkable," and added, "We will continue to provide healthy cultural spaces where youth can take the lead."
This festival was hosted by Yangsan City and organized by Soju Youth Culture Center, concluding as a meaningful summer event created together by local youth and citizens.
