Inspection of Cut Slopes, Drainage Channels, and Obstructive Trees

Gokseong County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Cho Sangrae) announced on June 16 that it had conducted emergency on-site inspections of landslide-prone areas for four days starting from June 13 in preparation for heavy rainfall.
This inspection was carried out in response to the landslide crisis alert level being raised from "Attention" to "Caution" and aimed to eliminate landslide risk factors in advance. Led by Deputy Governor Jeong Changmo, the team inspected the condition of cut slopes, drainage management, and the status of removing obstructive trees.
The county is also strengthening the resident evacuation system for prompt response in the event of a landslide and promoting the national landslide action guidelines to raise safety awareness among residents. In addition, residents are being instructed to immediately report any concerns about landslides or potential risk factors.
Deputy Governor Jeong Changmo emphasized, "Since landslides can directly lead to casualties, proactive preparedness is more important than anything else," and urged, "We ask all residents to actively cooperate with weather updates and administrative guidance."
The county plans to continue making every effort to achieve zero landslide damage by actively utilizing the Landslide Field Prevention Team and strengthening ongoing monitoring and preventive activities, including risk area surveillance and emergency measures.
