The Gwangju Regional Veterans Office announced on June 16 that it recently held the "Bobo K.I.D.S. Picnic" at the lawn square of the Gwangju History and Folklore Museum to commemorate the Month of National Defense and Veterans in June.

This event was organized in collaboration with the "2025 Art Picnic," a major family festival in the Gwangju area. It provided citizens with a unique urban picnic and an opportunity to experience a different kind of veterans’ cultural and artistic activities.

The event was divided into four themed zones, each offering a variety of programs. In the special theme zone, activities included a calligraphy contest, a National Defense and Veterans Quest, and a photo zone.

The performance zone featured energetic shows such as a Taegukgi flash mob and a National Defense and Veterans cultural concert with K-pop dance and vocal groups. The activity zone included a trampoline and traditional archery, while the experience zone offered hands-on activities such as making Mugunghwa soap, building mini turtle ships, crafting National Defense and Veterans-themed fans, making Taeguk thread bracelets, and creating Taeguk-patterned flower keyrings?allowing participants to naturally foster patriotism. In addition, a "stamp mission" encouraged citizens to participate in all zones to increase engagement.

Kim Seokki, head of the Gwangju Regional Veterans Office, stated, "The Bobo KIDS Picnic is an experiential cultural event that can be enjoyed not only by families with children but by all citizens of Gwangju. We will continue to expand veterans programs for Gwangju citizens so that inclusive veterans support can be realized for everyone."
