Sejong City Holds "Mobile Citizen Human Rights Education" Program

On June 16, Sejong City announced that it had conducted a "Mobile Citizen Human Rights Education" session at the Lifelong Education Center for Persons with Disabilities.

The program was a customized education initiative in which human rights professionals and individuals with developmental disabilities were targeted, and the training was held on-site at welfare facilities for persons with disabilities to enhance human rights sensitivity and prevent human rights violations.

Choi Myungjin, Director of the Daejeon Support Center for Families of Persons with Disabilities and a human rights instructor commissioned by the National Human Rights Commission, led the lecture. Drawing on his field experience in the area of disability rights, he explained the importance of human rights for both social welfare workers and persons with disabilities.

Lee Sangho, Director of the Department of Local Administration, stated, "Through this education, both facility users and staff were able to recognize the importance of human rights and feel the necessity of creating a more ethical and human rights-friendly environment." He added, "We will continue to expand various on-site human rights education programs."
