Hyundai Construction announced on June 16 that if the Apgujeong District 2 is redeveloped, it will build a connecting passage to the nearby main branch of Hyundai Department Store. The company is also considering a plan to connect directly to Apgujeong Station on Subway Line 3, which is adjacent to the site.
The connecting passage will restrict access to outsiders to ensure the safety of residents. The company expects that it will become more convenient for residents to travel between the complex, the department store, and the subway station. In addition, the agreement includes a commitment to actively reflect the requirements of District 2 union members in the development plans for the main branch of Hyundai Department Store.
Previously, Hyundai Construction signed an agreement with the Seoul Hyundai Graduate School Foundation to develop school land into educational facilities. The company stated that it aims to apply its experience from mixed-use development projects in Singapore to create an integrated urban complex in Apgujeong as well.
Meanwhile, the Apgujeong District 2 redevelopment union plans to announce a tender for the selection of a construction company within this month. The construction company is expected to be chosen through a general meeting of union members in September.
