S-Oil Marks 20th Anniversary of "Firefighting Hero Keeper" Program with 565 Million Won Donation

Support to Be Provided for Firefighters' Medical Expenses and Scholarships for Bereaved Families

S-Oil has once again stepped forward this year to sponsor the "Firefighting Hero Keeper" program for frontline firefighters. Marking its 20th anniversary this year, the Firefighting Hero Keeper program annually recognizes firefighting heroes and provides consolation payments to the families of firefighters who have died in the line of duty.

On June 16, S-Oil announced that it delivered a sponsorship donation of 565 million won for the "Firefighting Hero Keeper" program at Hotel Naru in Mapo-gu, Seoul, in cooperation with the National Fire Agency and the Korea National Council on Social Welfare. This donation will be used for a variety of support programs, including medical expenses for firefighters injured on duty, scholarships for the children of fallen firefighters, and prizes for firefighting heroes.

In particular, this year, to mark the 20th anniversary of the Firefighting Hero Keeper program, S-Oil introduced a new initiative in addition to its existing projects. S-Oil launched the "S-Oil 119 Master Saver" program, selecting and awarding 32 paramedics as "S-Oil 119 Master Savers of the Year" for their efforts to minimize disabilities through emergency medical care.

Since 2006, S-Oil has continued the Firefighting Hero Keeper program for 20 years, supporting firefighters and their families. The main initiatives include: ▲awards for Firefighting Hero of the Year ▲consolation payments to the families of fallen firefighters ▲scholarships for surviving children ▲medical expenses for injured firefighters ▲and "Rest Camps" for firefighter couples. To date, the program has provided approximately 10.8 billion won in support to about 3,700 recipients.

S-Oil's long-term and consistent operation of this program, which is rare among corporate social responsibility activities, was recognized last year when the company received the "KBS 119 Award for Volunteer Service," and CEO Anwar Al Hizazi was appointed as an honorary firefighter. CEO Al Hizazi stated, "I express my deep gratitude for the courage and dedication of firefighters who risk their own safety at the scenes of fires and accidents," adding, "We are proud to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the S-Oil Firefighting Hero Keeper program and will continue our ongoing support in the future."
