Yeonggwang County in South Jeolla Province is conducting emergency inspections of areas damaged by the heavy rain that fell from the 13th to the 14th, and is making every effort to ensure a swift recovery and prevent further damage.

Due to this heavy rainfall, the entire Yeonggwang County received an average of more than 120mm of rain. As a result, some areas experienced damage such as flooding of roads and farmland.

On the morning of June 16, Jang Seil, the governor of Yeonggwang County, personally visited affected sites in Baeksu-eup, Gunseo-myeon, and Yeomsan-myeon to comfort residents and instructed officials to accurately assess the extent of the damage.

He also ordered thorough preparations to ensure there are no casualties, emphasizing the importance of the fastest possible recovery and the prevention of secondary damage.

Taking this heavy rain as an opportunity, Yeonggwang County plans to conduct a comprehensive inspection of disaster-prone areas within its jurisdiction and to establish integrated disaster prevention measures. These will include maintenance of rivers and drainage systems, inspection of pump station operations, and the improvement of response manuals.

Governor Jang stated, "As we are entering the full rainy season, we will mobilize all administrative resources to prioritize the safety of our residents and respond to disasters. I also ask all residents to pay close attention to weather information and refrain from approaching dangerous areas."
