On June 16, the Korea Display Industry Association announced that its board of directors had appointed Seungwoo Lee, former CEO of Korea Southern Power, as the 7th Executive Vice President, and held an inauguration ceremony on the same day.
The newly appointed Executive Vice President began his public service career in 1992 by passing the 27th Technical Examination. He has served as Director of the Information and Electronics Industry Division, Director of the Steel and Chemical Industry Division, and Director of the General Parts and Materials Division at the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, as well as Director-General for System Industry Policy at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. He also served as Administrator of the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards and as CEO of Korea Southern Power.
During his tenure as Administrator of the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards, he contributed to reducing the testing and certification period for materials, parts, and equipment (so-called "Sobu-jang") by half in response to Japan's export restrictions. While serving as CEO of Korea Southern Power, he promoted the establishment of RE100-based infrastructure to meet corporate demands for expanding renewable energy use. (RE100 is a campaign to transition all corporate electricity consumption to 100% renewable energy.)
In his inauguration speech, Executive Vice President Lee stated, "I will prioritize strengthening the competitiveness of our member companies and faithfully serve as a bridge between industry and government."
