Uijeongbu Eulji University Hospital Introduces Korea's First Automated Endoscope Cleaning Equipment: "No More Worries About Infection"

Innovation in Endoscope Infection Control System... Maximizing Patient Safety
Standardizing Cleaning Outcomes and Tracking Usage History
Fundamentally Blocking the Risk of Cross-Infection in Hospitals

Uijeongbu Eulji University Hospital (Director Song Hyun) announced on June 16 that it will be the first in Korea to introduce the advanced endoscope cleaning equipment, UltraZonic ENDO.

This equipment features an automated cleaning system that fundamentally blocks the risk of cross-infection between patients through endoscopic instruments.

Endoscopes are precision medical devices used to examine or treat internal organs. Because they are inserted through the mouth or anus, they are highly susceptible to contamination by digestive fluids, blood, saliva, as well as viruses, bacteria, and germs.

Although thorough cleaning and disinfection after use are of utmost importance, the cleaning process has so far relied mainly on manual labor.

As a result, there have been variations in cleaning outcomes depending on the skill of the medical staff, and the process has consumed a significant amount of time, creating limitations and challenges in achieving complete infection prevention.

However, the new equipment introduced by Uijeongbu Eulji University Hospital addresses these infection risks through an automated cleaning program and step-by-step traceability management.

When the medical staff connects the endoscopic instrument to the device, the pre-programmed system automatically performs all cleaning steps, from checking for instrument damage to completing the cleaning process.

Notably, during this process, information such as endoscope usage history, patient details, medical staff who performed the examination, and cleaning personnel is stored in real time in the hospital system.

Additionally, any steps requiring manual intervention are recorded on video using a built-in camera, allowing transparent management of the cleaning process for each instrument.

The automated cleaning and traceability system of this equipment not only helps establish a prevention-focused infection control system, but also minimizes human error and provides essential information for immediate cause identification in the event of an infection.

Uijeongbu Eulji University Hospital stated that the introduction of this equipment will enhance the overall safety and reliability of the endoscopy process and create a clinical environment where patients can undergo examinations with peace of mind.

Director Song Hyun said, "True medical innovation for patient safety begins with the invisible processes," adding, "We will spare no effort to realize a world-class laboratory operation system."
