The National Credit Union Federation of Korea announced on June 16 that it held a signing ceremony and orientation for the '2025 Cooperative Win-Win Growth Eobbuba Contest Project' together with the Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency at the Daejeon Credit Union Central Training Center on June 11.
This signing ceremony marked the official launch of the project, which aims to address various issues faced by local communities through solidarity and cooperation among credit unions nationwide.
Since signing a business agreement in 2013, the National Credit Union Federation and the Promotion Agency have supported the establishment and growth of approximately 43 cooperatives. To date, they have continuously promoted contest projects in connection with local credit unions through cumulative sponsorships totaling 300 million won, fostering mutual growth and cooperation among cooperatives.
This year's contest project is organized by the Promotion Agency, with the National Credit Union Federation and the Credit Union Social Contribution Foundation providing a total sponsorship of 80 million won. A total of 93 cooperatives from across the country participated and underwent a professional evaluation process, resulting in the selection of 10 final projects, which will be operated for about four months.
The projects selected this year cover a variety of topics reflecting social issues such as aging, the climate crisis, and youth challenges. Major projects include: ▲medical care services for the elderly and vulnerable groups ▲support for recovery in wildfire-affected areas in North Gyeongsang Province ▲climate and energy initiatives for achieving carbon neutrality ▲creation of community spaces for youth residential areas ▲holiday support for self-reliant young people ▲joint social contribution activities among cooperatives ▲and data-driven projects to spread social value.
The signing ceremony was attended by a total of 42 participants, including Park Kyuhui, Head of the Happiness Sharing Division at the National Credit Union Federation, Ahn Sujin, Head of the Cooperative Support Office at the Promotion Agency, as well as cooperative representatives and staff from the associated credit unions.
Park Kyuhui, Head of the Happiness Sharing Division at the National Credit Union Federation, stated, "Based on the values of self-help and cooperation, the National Credit Union Federation has been continuously supporting social economy organizations to build self-sustainability. Through this contest project, we will do our utmost to strengthen solidarity and cooperation among cooperatives and contribute to solving common problems in local communities."
