Ansan City Accepting Applications for 'Ansan eSports Summer Festival' Preliminary Round Until July 18

This event is a gaming culture festival hosted and organized by Ansan City under the slogan 'eSports for Everyone, Ansan ON!'. Now in its third year, the festival's finals will be held on August 16 at the Sangnoksu Gymnasium.

This year, the city has further subdivided the eSports competition categories and game titles. Unlike last year, when middle and high school students competed together in a single game title, this year, the competition is divided into three categories: middle school, high school, and university. For the national competition, 'StarCraft: Remastered' has been selected as a title open to all participants. The city has also added a cosplay performance competition category featuring game characters.

For the local competition, 'League of Legends' has been chosen for the middle and high school category, while 'FC Online' is the title for the five participating universities. Each League of Legends team will consist of five members, and each FC Online team will have three members. Winners of the local competition will receive a certificate from the mayor of Ansan, and winners of the national competition will be awarded prize certificates totaling 10 million won.

The festival will feature a 'Program Zone' with attractions and engaging experiences. Highlights include the 'Brawl Stars LAN Party Zone', which is popular among children and teenagers; the 'Cosplay Zone', where participants can dress as game characters and take photos with well-known influencers; the 'Retro Game Zone', designed to evoke nostalgia among older visitors; and the 'Goods Flea Market Zone', where visitors can find game character merchandise.

The competition will begin with online preliminary matches for each category starting July 19. All experiences and events are free of charge. Detailed information about the competition titles and registration is available on the festival's official blog.

Ansan Mayor Lee Minguen said, "The Ansan eSports Summer Festival is a celebration where people can experience a variety of fun and fresh culture through gaming," adding, "We will thoroughly prepare the event so that everyone can enjoy the eSports festival and forget about the summer heat."
