Innovative Fields Including AI, Robotics, and Digital Health
Opportunities for Integration with Samsung Products and Networking Support
Samsung Electronics is launching an open recruitment drive to discover innovative startups.
Starting today and running until July 4, Samsung Electronics will be accepting applications for the 8th batch of C-Lab Outside startups.
This open recruitment will be conducted simultaneously in four regions?Seoul, Daegu, Gyeongbuk, and Gwangju?with the aim of broadly discovering innovative startups nationwide and expanding opportunities for business collaboration.
The recruitment fields include AI (artificial intelligence), robotics, digital health, IoT, content & services, materials and components, mobility, and ESG (environmental, social, and governance). The company plans to select startups that demonstrate both technological capability and business potential.
Startups with a registered corporation in Korea that have received Series B or earlier investment are eligible to apply via the Samsung C-Lab website. Series A refers to the stage where a startup is preparing for full-scale market entry, while Series B is the stage where a startup recognized through Series A prepares for business expansion and overseas entry.
Through C-Lab Outside, Samsung Electronics supports selected startups in seeking business collaboration opportunities with Samsung Electronics and generating synergy through practical business connections.
Startups are offered opportunities to integrate with Samsung Electronics' major products and services. For example, Rydoc, an aerobic exercise AI analysis startup selected for the 6th batch of C-Lab Outside, has integrated its proprietary fitness AI model into the Samsung Health app, providing users with sophisticated and personalized health management features based on its health data measurement and analysis technology.
Park Sanghyuk, CEO of Rydoc, said, "We are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to collaborate with a major corporation as a small startup. Thanks to C-Lab's active support, we were able to apply our service to the Samsung Health app, and this has become a stepping stone for us to prepare for a greater leap into the global market."
Additionally, Pinpoint, a building IoT (Internet of Things) integrated management solution company, co-developed an app related to Samsung Electronics' SmartThings Pro for commercial building management and applied its solution to the office building 'Factorial Seongsu' located in Seongsu-dong.
In addition to business collaboration, Samsung Electronics is also investing in startups such as Rydoc and Pinpoint, building practical and sustainable cooperation models with startups that have high potential and the possibility of future business integration.
Samsung Electronics C-Lab provides multifaceted support for startups to build networks and attract investment during their growth process. By hosting the C-Lab Outside Demo Day, startups scheduled to graduate are given opportunities to present their projects and exhibit, allowing for direct communication with investors and industry stakeholders.
The company also supports participation in CES, the world's largest IT and home appliance exhibition, giving startups the chance to showcase their products and services in the global market and expand their networks with overseas investors and buyers.
Startups selected for C-Lab can receive a variety of benefits, including up to 100 million KRW in business support funds without equity acquisition, dedicated office space, internal consulting programs from Samsung Electronics, participation in domestic and international IT exhibitions such as CES, and free transfer or licensing of Samsung Electronics' patents. To date, Samsung Electronics has fostered a total of 959 in-house ventures and startups (423 in-house, 536 external) through C-Lab.
Jeon Pilgyu, Vice President and Head of the Creativity Development Center at Samsung Electronics, said, "We look forward to the participation of innovative startups that can explore new possibilities and create synergy together with Samsung Electronics C-Lab. Through mutual growth with startups, Samsung Electronics will continue to prepare for the future and establish successful collaboration models."
