Inhwan Lim, a member of the Daegu City Council (People Power Party, Jung-gu District 1), announced on the 15th that he had proposed the "Partial Amendment to the Daegu Metropolitan City Ordinance on the Promotion of Safe Use of Personal Mobility Devices (PM)," which primarily aims to strengthen management standards regarding the unauthorized parking of personal mobility devices.
Lim explained, "Recently, the use rate of various personal mobility devices (PM) has been increasing every year due to the introduction of shared services. However, unauthorized parking of these devices on pedestrian spaces or roads has become frequent, threatening both the pedestrian environment and traffic safety." He further stated, "There is a need to strengthen the management system by raising the standards for enforcement and the associated costs for handling such cases. Therefore, a prompt amendment to the ordinance is necessary."
The main points of this amendment include strengthening management standards such as the handling of unauthorized PMs and the imposition of related costs to encourage orderly use of PMs, as well as establishing a legal basis for pilot projects and surveys aimed at improving the safety of PM users.
Inhwan Lim expressed his expectations, saying, "With this amendment, we can encourage PM operators to voluntarily maintain order and contribute to creating a safe and pleasant road environment."
