Song Maeum Dominates Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles
Geumcheon District in Seoul announced on June 15 that the Geumcheon District Office Women's Table Tennis Team won championships in all categories at the "2025 Spring President's Cup National Business Table Tennis Tournament," which was held from June 8 to 13 at Gyeongsan Indoor Gymnasium in North Gyeongsang Province.
This tournament, hosted by the Korea Business Table Tennis Federation, featured a total of 18 men's and women's teams from city and county offices as well as corporate business teams nationwide, with over 200 athletes participating. The competition consisted of four categories: men's and women's team events, men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles, and mixed doubles.
On June 12, the Geumcheon District Office Women's Table Tennis Team won the singles, doubles, and mixed doubles events. On the final day of the tournament, June 13, they secured the team championship by defeating Suwon Special City Hall 3-1 in the team event final.
In particular, player Song Maeum achieved first place in the singles category, first place in the doubles category with player Lee Dasom, and first place in the mixed doubles category with player Baek Kwangil (affiliated with Seoul City Hall), accomplishing the remarkable feat of winning in all events. Song has continued her impressive performance, following her third-place finish in the doubles event at the National Table Tennis Championships in April.
The Geumcheon District Office Women's Table Tennis Team was established in 2017 in response to requests from local table tennis enthusiasts and with active support from the district and related parties. Since its founding, the team has received positive evaluations. Over the past three years, the team has achieved outstanding results, including first place in singles and doubles at the 2022 Spring President's Cup National Business Table Tennis Tournament, first place in team and singles at the 2022 Fall President's Cup National Business Table Tennis Tournament, overall championship in the women's division at the 2023 Dunamu Korea Pro Table Tennis National League, first place in team and doubles at the 2023 Spring President's Cup National Business Table Tennis Tournament, first place in singles at the 2023 National Cup Business Table Tennis Tournament, and first place in singles and doubles at the 2024 National Cup Business Table Tennis Tournament.
