AI Antigen Detected at Broiler Duck Farm in Seosan, South Chungcheong... 28,000 Ducks Culled

A suspected highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) antigen has been detected at a broiler duck farm in Seosan, South Chungcheong Province, prompting quarantine authorities to carry out emergency culling.

On June 14, the Seosan city government announced that an H5-type AI antigen had been identified during a routine pre-shipment inspection at a duck farm located in Gobuk-myeon.

The city requested a detailed examination from the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency and, following quarantine guidelines, began culling 28,000 ducks being raised at the farm. Disinfection and removal of contaminants have also commenced. The results of the detailed inspection by the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency are expected in one to three days.

In addition, a movement restriction order was issued for 133 poultry farms located within a 10-kilometer radius of the affected farm. It has been confirmed that a total of 200,000 poultry, including chickens and ducks, are being raised at these farms.
