The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education held the '2025 Earth Scholarship Conference' on June 13 at Seoul National University Siheung Campus. Under the theme "What Should Gyeonggi Future Supervision Be to Expand School Autonomy?", participants discussed in depth the direction and practical measures of supervision for realizing school-centered future education.
The event was attended by Superintendent Lim Taehee, representatives of the district supervision councils of principals and vice principals from various regions in the province, and supervision officers from education support offices. In total, about 200 participants engaged in discussions on the practical implementation of Gyeonggi Future Supervision.
The main program began with presentations from three speakers: ▲Expansion of School Autonomy through Gyeonggi Future Supervision (Professor Park Joohyung, Gyeongin National University of Education), ▲Supervision as a Core Driver of Policy Implementation (Principal Shin Jungcheol, Anil Middle School), and ▲Establishing the Gyeonggi Future Supervision System (Associate Research Fellow Jang Suyeon, Gyeonggi Institute of Educational Research).
All presenters emphasized that schools should strengthen autonomous supervision, and that education support offices should provide support to ensure that supervision can function more broadly and deeply. They stressed the need to realize Gyeonggi Future Education with schools at the center.
During the subsequent "Dialogue with the Superintendent" session, a variety of questions and suggestions regarding Gyeonggi Future Supervision were shared, making it a time for policy, practice, and communication between the field and administration.
Superintendent Lim stated, "In the past, supervision was conducted in a one-sided manner, focusing on giving instructions, checking, and evaluating." He added, "Going forward, supervision should take on the role of resolving and supporting the difficulties faced in educational settings."
He further emphasized, "Since the goals and methods of supervision have already been sufficiently shared, the basic role of supervision should be to create conditions that enable effective education." He requested, "Please work to remove unnecessary obstacles that make school education difficult, and strive to ensure that supervision provides support to help school education."
