Receives Minister of Environment Award
Yangsan City in South Gyeongsang Province was selected for the Encouragement Award in the "2024 Municipal Excellence Evaluation for Household Waste Information Management" hosted by the Ministry of Environment, and received the Minister of Environment Award.

This evaluation assessed public household waste treatment facilities nationwide (Group I/167 locations) based on three categories and seven indicators: membership registration rate, basic information management, and management of incoming and outgoing information. The purpose was to ensure the adequacy of transmitted data following the establishment of the household waste information management system and to promote its wider use.
The Yangsan City Resource Recovery Center is a facility that sorts recyclables collected from households and businesses by type, such as paper, plastics, cans, and vinyl. It is capable of processing 24 tons of recyclables per day, and with a sorting rate approaching 90%, it boasts the highest level in the country, especially considering the national average is 60 to 70%.
A Yangsan City official stated, "We will continue to promote the utilization of recyclable resources and the establishment of a resource circulation system by strengthening the public management system," and added, "As the key to creating a sustainable resource-circulating city lies in the voluntary participation and actions of citizens, we ask for their active cooperation."
