The Korea Forest Welfare Institute announced on June 13 that it is accepting applications from forest welfare specialist companies (hereinafter referred to as specialist companies) to participate in a private-sector-led forest travel content discovery and development project until July 2.
The project aims to help specialist companies plan and commercialize forest travel services that combine forest welfare and tourism.
Eligible applicants are specialist companies capable of operating forest travel projects this year. Participation is open regardless of location, but planning and operation of products must be possible in the four designated regions: Yeongju-Yecheon, Chilgok, Daejeon, and Busan.
Ideas must be capable of commercialization as regionally specialized forest travel content, and one specialist company will be selected for each region to participate in the project.
The Korea Forest Welfare Institute will provide each selected specialist company with up to 10 million KRW in commercialization funding for forest travel products, as well as expert consulting and capacity-building education necessary for commercialization, to help further develop their business ideas.
After the project concludes, the institute will conduct a performance evaluation, select the best content (one entry) for an award, and publish a "Forest Travel Guidebook" featuring outstanding cases to distribute to the private sector.
Further details about the project can be found on the Korea Forest Welfare Institute's website.
Nam Taeheon, President of the Korea Forest Welfare Institute, stated, "This project will strengthen the forest travel business capabilities of specialist companies and provide opportunities to advance into various convergent industries that combine tourism and culture. The Korea Forest Welfare Institute will continue to discover business models based on forest welfare that can be utilized by the private sector, thereby contributing to field-oriented income generation and regional revitalization."
